On behalf of volunteers and organizers, thank you to everyone who participated in last Wednesday’s Hamilton Community Land Trust launch at LIUNA Station! More than 120 engaged Hamiltonians came together to hear about the ways a CLT can protect and steward land for community-directed uses such as gardens, parks, community centres, and affordable housing.
The package of materials circulated on Wednesday night is now available at hamiltonclt.org/resources, and we encourage you to share it with family, friends, neighbours and colleagues.
We also hope you will help us get further feedback by completing our survey, and we are incredibly appreciative of the generous individuals and groups who have already made a donation of time, skills or money in order to help us build the HCLT from the ground up.
Over the next months, we will be meeting with interested groups and individuals in order to gain more public support for the model, and raise the funds necessary to hire an Executive Director and conduct a feasibility study. We will also be growing our volunteer base, including seeking experienced and enthusiastic individuals who are interested in sitting on our Board of Directors.
If your organization is interested in hearing a presentation or publicly supporting a Hamilton Community Land Trust, please contact the HCLT Coordinator at allison@hamiltonclt.org.
Thank you again for your time and enthusiasm for building a CLT in Hamilton, and we hope to share more good news with you in the coming weeks!
